Tribal Seeds

Official Band Site

Tribal Seeds has toured the world over, seeking the spiritual aromatics of earth smoke and forming bonds with fans and musicians. In their 15 years as a reggae rock band, originally from San Diego, Tribal Seeds has released four full length albums and two EPs. It’s helped them amass over 224M song streams and 250,000 followers on Spotify. They matched that output and strong fan connection with a robust touring life that brought the group to Europe, South America, New Zealand, Mexico, Guam and Aruba. With the global pandemic ending all tours worldwide, the band was sidelined for 2020, which has led to a special live album experience to adapt to the times.

Tribal Seeds’ Live: The 2020 Sessions will be remembered in reflections of the disruption that a global pandemic caused to large, joyous gatherings, and the resilience of musicians to maintain a connection to sequestered fans. Recorded and self-produced over three days in a private venue with cameras rolling, The 2020 Sessions was released as a live Youtube experience on November 19, 2020 with the album version following the next day across all streaming platforms. The 2020 Sessions is bold new territory for Tribal Seeds. From the outset “Down Bad Vibes” leads the record, an unreleased song that will be on their forthcoming studio album. “Down Bad Vibes” is a heavy, traditional reggae dub with live horns and signature space echo. It feels like a ceremonious cleansing of the space that curates the room for new songs: “Lift,” “Tempest,” “Sekkle & Cool,” and “Fallen Kings.” The song “Fallen Kings” finds the group implementing live string arrangements into their sound, all of which suggests they’ve utilized the downtime to explore and push themselves creatively in the studio for the next record.

It’s an exciting progression for a group that rose to the top quick and has remained on the road for over a decade.

The group’s ascension among the elite in the roots and reggae rock genres came within its first three years as their self-titled 2008 album debuted at #1 on the iTunes Reggae charts, as well as winning the San Diego Music Awards honors of Best Reggae/World Album. The single “Dawn of Time” remains one of the group’s highest streamed songs with nearly 35 million Spotify plays. Since then, each consecutive album has debuted at #1 on iTunes with The Harvest LP cracking the Top 5 on Billboard Reggae and the Soundwaves EP debuting #2 on Billboard Reggae. Finally 2014’s Representing debuted at #1 on iTunes, Amazon and Billboard Reggae charts, while the single “Moonlight” garnered over 20 million Spotify plays to date.

The Roots Party EP in 2017 continued to push the band’s ascension as the group dynamic evolved and grew along the way. Brothers Steven Rene Jacobo (lyrics, vocals, guitar) and Tony-Ray Jacobo (producer, keyboards, vocals) founded the band, while the group has expanded to include Victor Navarro (bass), Ryan Gonzo (guitar, vocals), Luis Castillo (keyboard, vocals), and Jamey “Zeb” Dekofsky (drums). Tribal Seeds is expected to finish and release their next record in 2023. The group enlisted legendary reggae producer/engineer Fabian Cooke in the studio after building a relationship while recording the Roots Party EP.

Recently Tribal Seeds released a slew of singles including Fallen Kings, Breathe Easy, Wicked & Riled, which featured Jamaican artist Hempress Sativa, and Dusk Till Dawn which featured Jamaican artist Hector Roots Lewis, in anticipation of their full length album.

A key pillar of the Reggae Revival movement, Kabaka Pyramid carved his way into the Jamaican reggae scene with Rebel Music in 2011 with marquee songs like “Free From Chains” and “Warrior” featuring Protoje. His hip hop roots were evident in the lyrical style and hard hitting beats, laying the foundation for an ever ascending career highlighted by the classic marquee sophmore album “The Kalling” produced by role model Damian “Jr Gong” Marley.

This chart topping artist has developed a solid global fan-base that connects deeply with the messages in his music, touring extensively over the past 10 years to the largest of Reggae stages around the world and headlining numerous 20+ multi-city club tours and some the greatest reggae festivals worldwide. Kabaka is well known for delivering an electrifying and entertaining live performance with his band “The Bebble Rockers”.

The Kingston native, born Keron Salmon, spent many of his early years developing his sound as a part of Bebble Team, a talented group of friends and schoolmates that would be the foundation of his independent label Bebble Rock. After touring europe in 2012, prominent producers would take an interest and staple songs “No Capitalist” and “Never Gonna be A Slave” as well as hit songs “Mi Alright” featuring Chronixx Chronixx and ‘Well Done’ produced by Damian Marley would follow in 2013 and 2014 respectively. The Billboard charting “Lead The Way EP” in 2013 would cement Kabaka in the international Reggae landscape as well as the career defining “Well Done” produced by Damian Marley in 2015.

The “Accurate” mixtape by Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire would see Kabaka collaborate with Raekwon on Be Inspired, and classic Kabaka vs Pyramid would be become a hallmark for true Kabaka fans.

After touring with Damian Marley in the US in 2017, Kabaka would team up with the son of Bob Marley for his debut album Kontraband, debuting number 3 in the reggae Billboard chart and number one in several countries on iTunes. Hit song “Reggae Music” became Kabaka’s first song to pass 10 million views on youtube with many other records from the album having a tremendous impact in the market such as “Can’t Breathe” and “Kontraband”.

During the covid pandemic Kabaka worked tirelessly and released popular singles “Nice Up The Dance and “Believe” as well as the classic “Immaculate Mixtape” with Federation Sound. He also produced his first juggling rhythm “Victory Rock” to great success. All this while working continuously on his second album “The Kalling”. Hit singles “Red Gold and Green” featuring Damian Marley, The “Kalling” featuring Stephen Marley, Protoje and Jesse Royal and “Faded Away” with Buju Banton would see the 2022 LP release dominate iTunes charts in many countries culminating in a Grammy award for reggae album of the year amongst many other album of the year awards on publications such as Reggaeville and Riddim magazine.
