Megan Jean Klay’s music career has its roots in New York City’s East Village. While studying theatre at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she performed her first show, held a residency at CBGB’s, performed at The Knitting Factory and Piano’s. Megan met her husband and musical collaborator, multi-instrumentalist Byrne Klay in 2004 as he was studying upright under Reggie Workman at New School University’s jazz program. The pair formed a duo, released four full length albums and performed 2000+ shows as Megan Jean and the KFB, sharing the stage with Charles Bradley, Little Feat, Shovels and Rope, Amythyst Kiah, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, and 10,000 Maniacs. They were featured on PBS’s Music Voyager, Heartland’s More Than the Music, and played the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage.
